Biochemistry
The Department of Veterinary Biochemistry is a core scientific discipline that studies the chemical structures and functional mechanisms within the animal body at the molecular level. In this department, students learn about biochemical processes occurring in living organisms through biomolecules such as proteins, enzymes, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, hormones, and nucleic acids.
Veterinary biochemistry education is supported not only by theoretical knowledge but also through laboratory practices. In these sessions, biochemical analyses are performed on biological samples such as blood, urine, and tissue. Thus, students gain practical understanding of how biochemical tests used in disease diagnosis work and develop the ability to relate them to clinical biochemistry.
This department enables future veterinarians to understand biochemical differences between healthy and diseased animals, contribute to the diagnosis of metabolic disorders, and adopt an integrated approach in connection with other clinical sciences.
The multidisciplinary laboratory established in our faculty is fully equipped to support practical biochemistry courses.
