Pharmacology and Toxicology

The Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology is a scientific field that investigates the mechanisms of action of drugs used in animals, their pharmacokinetic properties, and the harmful effects of toxic substances on living organisms.

Pharmacology teaches the effects of drugs on the organism, methods of administration, dosages, and drug interactions.

Toxicology, on the other hand, covers the effects, diagnosis, and treatment methods of poisonous substances—such as medications, feed additives, environmental toxins, plants, and chemicals—on animals.

This department equips students with competencies in developing treatment protocols, ensuring drug safety, and preventing and managing poisonings. It is directly connected to clinical sciences and forms the foundation for rational therapeutic practices.
