Scientific Conference “Genetic Selection and Biotechnology in Animal Husbandry – The Path to Development” Held

With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Göygöl District Executive Authority, and the Agrarian Innovation Center, and organized by the Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, a scientific-practical conference entitled “Genetic Selection and Biotechnology in Animal Husbandry – The Path to Development” was held in the Göygöl district.

At the opening of the conference, the Head of the Göygöl District Executive Authority, Vüqar Novruzov, discussed the agrarian potential of the region and the significance of state programs implemented in this area. He emphasized the decisive role of genetic selection and biotechnology in enhancing productivity and competitiveness in animal husbandry and highlighted the necessity of applying scientific innovations.

During the scientific session, alongside presentations from multiple representatives, DVM. Çiçek Aliyeva, Acting Dean of the Hasvet Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Khazar University, delivered a presentation on “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Veterinary Education and Combating Antimicrobial Resistance.”

Discussions also specifically underscored the necessity of expanding the application of biotechnological methods in Azerbaijan. It was highlighted that biotechnology plays a crucial role in organizing effective measures against animal diseases, optimizing reproductive performance, and accelerating the dissemination of high-yield genes within populations.

Experts emphasized the importance of increasing investments in the sector, strengthening personnel training, and intensifying genetic selection programs based on modern scientific-practical principles
